Flora for Fauna News:
Winter is the time for Australian Natives
Australian plants are stunning during winter and spring and now is the ideal time to start planting them.
Plants such as banksia, bottlebrush (callistemon), eucalyptus, grevillea, hakea, melaleuca and wax flowers (chamelacium) not only provide colour in your garden, they also attract native birds, butterflies, bees and other fauna by providing a source of food and shelter.
To see how they look at this time of year, visit one of the excellent botanical gardens which specialise in Australian plants such as Mt Annan Botanic Gardens in NSW or Kings Park Botanical Gardens in Perth.
You can obtain your fauna-attracting Australian plants from the participating Flora for Fauna Garden Centres in your area. To find the one closest to you click on 'Choose a Garden Centre'.
